Believe That Ye May Understand

I agree that the LORD God is the ultimate authority and the Holy Word sacrosanct, and, at the same time, I side with St. Augustine that the Bible need not always be taken literally. Augustine wrote (and I paraphrase here) that we need not believe that the world was created in “six” days but that God created a “nebulosa species” from which all things would develop by natural causes unfolding by divine foreknowledge.
The Bible contains history, literature, epistles, poetry, allegory, metaphor, and mystical entries, all divinely inspired and cannot be fully understood by finite minds.
